Koper International School Slovenia (KISS) was planned from 2022, and founded in 2024, but our director and owner Alenka founded Nista Language School in 1991, the oldest language school in Koper offering over 15 languages.
KISS offers the British Curriculum for KS3 (year 8 and 9), British IGCSE Curriculum for KS4 (year 10 and 11), and A-level programme for KS5 (year 12 and 13).

Yes, for more information about our teachers qualifications please go to our staff page and click on each member of staff. The majority of our teachers have masters degrees in addition to their pedagogical qualifications too.
Students are required to wear the school polo shirt, but they can wear jeans, trousers, skirt etc. with it, and whatever shoes they feel comfortable in, but for science lessons, students should wear closed toed shoes.
The main language of instruction is English except in Italian, Slovene and other modern foreign language classes. All students study Italian and Slovene either as a first or second language until the end of year 11. We offer German, Spanish, French, as additional foreign languages during school time, and after school we also offer Chinese, Russian, and Portuguese for an additional fee.
Registration is at 7:50am every morning, and school finishes either 14:30 or 15:15 depending on the day. If your child has chosen art IGCSE they will be required one day a week to stay until 16:00 to complete project work with the art teacher for year 10 and year 11.

If your child is entering in year 10 from a non international school, we require them to do an oral and written English proficiency test, to ensure their English level is suitable for the IGCSE program.
If your child is entering in year 11 from a non international school, we require the above plus a maths and science admissions test to ensure they can meet the IGCSE program requirements by the end of the year.
If your child is entering in year 12 from a non international school, we require an English admission test, even if they will be studying science subjects.

Yes we do, please read our SEN policy here, and contact administration if your child requires learning support. We strictly follow the IGCSE and A-level from Pearson Edexcel exam board SEN policies and exam regulations.
Yes. We only offer this in year 8 and 9, depending on your childs’ level of English, they will be placed in ‘Native English’ or ‘EAL’ for English Literature/Language lessons, but by year 10, they are required to be B2 level to start the IGCSE course and all students will be in the same English class with Ms. O’Regan our IGCSE English instructor.
If your child joins us in year 10 with a lower level of English, we offer intense after school English classes for an additional fee to improve the English level, which are obligatory to gain entrance to the school.
