A brief history:

Alenka Rajčić, our founder, always had a dream to bring world class British Education to her home community in Koper. She started with opening her own language school and organising academic exchanges to England (see below for more details). In the year 2022 she decided it was time to open her own international secondary school offering the British curriculum with both the IGCSE and A-Levels  programmes.

After two years of planning, organising, fundraising and recruiting teachers, with a final approval from the ministry of education her dream came true.

We opened our doors to students from around the world in September 2025.

Our connection to Nista:

We do not just share a building with the oldest language school in Koper, but we have the same roots! We have the same founder. Alenka Rajčić. Her dream of a British International School in Koper started a passion to deliver English language education to the community. Opening her first English and Italian language school in June 1991 Alenka Rajčić, prepared a plan, distributed leaflets in local schools and impatiently waited for the response. More than 800 children registered overnight for English, and Italian. The language school continued to grow, and now has taught over 15 global languages. It has Italian summer camps every year for Kindergarten and Elementary students. Nista organises summer schools and exchanges with top prestigious boarding schools in the UK, which are attended by over 100 students annually.

Getting closer to her dream of having her own British School in Koper, Nista’s business grew every year, with more demand for an immersive British education. Thanks to popular demand from the community, in 2022 Alenka knew it was time to bring British Education here, and thus the Koper International School of Slovenia was born.
