The class Y 4-6 has gone on a field trip to the nearby towns of Piran and Portorose and visited two Art Galleries. In Piran we’ve had a guided tour of the Hemeroteque, a historical building, fully renovated, in Tartini Square, which is the central art gallery institution in Slovenian Istria where they keep all the documentation of artworks from modern to contemporary, focusing on the local Art.
At the Monfort Gallery of Portorose the class has visited the exhibition landscape “Earth gazes back II”, an International project that brings together Art, Science and the European cultural sphere”, aiming to raise one of the key questions, rather than give simple answers, of our time: how to live with, think about and observe the planet of our times.
This multidisciplinary exhibition, with its impressionistic approach that combines Photography and Technology, has shown the pupils different ways of looking at the ecosystems studied in class. The goal of the going out experience as a class is to offer the children the possibility to connect the class work to the real world and this is an essential element of the learning process.
Leaving the classroom for a day in order to explore topics that have already been introduced, stimulates the children’s curiosity and imagination, which is the main core of Education.
